Installation Steps

Follow these steps to install ScreenerBot

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg file
  2. Drag ScreenerBot to your Applications folder
  3. First Launch: Right-click ScreenerBot in Applications → "Open" (to bypass Gatekeeper)
  4. Click "Open" again in the security dialog
  5. ScreenerBot will create its data directory at ~/Library/Application Support/ScreenerBot

Bypassing Gatekeeper

macOS may block the app because it's downloaded from the internet. Here's how to open it:

  1. Right-click (or Control-click) on ScreenerBot in Applications
  2. Select "Open" from the context menu
  3. Click "Open" in the dialog that appears

Alternatively: Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway" next to the ScreenerBot message.

Data Directory

ScreenerBot stores all data in your user Library folder:

~/Library/Application Support/ScreenerBot

This folder contains your configuration, databases, and logs. To access it:

  • • Open Finder → Go → Go to Folder → paste the path above
  • • Or use the "About" tab in ScreenerBot settings to open directly

Step 3: Verify Installation

  1. 1
    Launch ScreenerBot

Open from Applications folder. The app window should appear.

  2. 2
    Access Dashboard

Open your browser and navigate to http://localhost:8080

  3. 3
    Complete Setup

Follow the initial setup wizard to configure your wallet and RPC endpoints.

Troubleshooting

"ScreenerBot is damaged and can't be opened"

This happens when Gatekeeper quarantines the app. Run this command in Terminal:

xattr -cr /Applications/ScreenerBot.app

Then try opening the app again.

App won't start after macOS update

After major macOS updates, you may need to re-authorize the app. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → allow ScreenerBot, or re-download and reinstall the latest version.

Uninstalling

To uninstall ScreenerBot:

  1. Quit ScreenerBot if it's running (right-click dock icon → Quit)
  2. Drag ScreenerBot.app from Applications to Trash
  3. Empty Trash

Note: Uninstalling removes the application but keeps your data folder. Delete ~/Library/Application Support/ScreenerBot manually to remove all data.
