Rod Carew batted leadoff for the American League in the 1978 All-Star Game and set a record by hitting two triples. Both three-baggers came off Vida Blue. It was Carew's last All-Star Game as a player on the Minnesota Twins. He was traded to the Angels in the offseason, where he would spend the final seven years of his big league career.
